At the present stage, this unique computer-aided diagnostic system will be developed into a precise, non-invasive diagnostic method for thyroid diseases such as malignant thyroid tumors. The diagnostic system includes the determination and calculation of both Power Doppler indices and Gray-scale indices from thyroid tumor sonography and the analysis and examination of those clinical parameters with auto diagnostic software.
A database with clinical data from hundreds of cases has been established with the ongoing exploratory clinical study conducted at the National Taiwan University Hospital. The diagnostic system, with the integration of the database, has been proved to be accurate for diagnosing malignant thyroid tumors with a diagnosis accuracy of over 80% matching that of the most accurate method of puncture cytology, which is invasive.
