The founding of Stem BioTek in July 2008 as the first dental pulp stem cell bank is a consolidation of many resources:
--The research teams at National Taiwan University College of Medicine, Veterans General Hospital, Tri-Service General Hospital, and National Chung Hsing University.
--An alliance of practicing dentists
--Medical distribution network and marketing capability of Maywufa Biopharma Group
--Stem cell research and development technology
Stem BioTek focus on the extracting, isolating, culturing, and storing of dental pulp stem cells for young children aged 6 to 12. Such stem cell has been scientifically proved to be effective in curing blood diseases and periodontosis, and repairing damaged human tissues, nerve system and bone mass.
Stem cell technology has been a closely watched scientific area in recent years, often considered increasingly by parents as important investments in the health protection for their children. It is estimated that 3 to 5 percent of children within our target age group will engage our service, a market demand of NTD10 billion annually.
Stem BioTek will partner with practicing dentists nationwide to offer the service of extracting and storing stem cells, which will then be applied to the treatment of diseases in neurology, dermatology, and to plastic surgery. In the future, stem cell technology may soon be proved to have the capability to cure malignant tumor, metabolic abnormity, blood diseases, HIV, and various genetically transmitted diseases, substantially improving human health conditions in general.
